Welcome!

I want to thank you for committing to excellence in teaching. By doing so, you are ensuring that our current and next generation workforce receives a quality educational experience that enhances and improves the quality of care they provide to their patients. By putting in the effort to learn about our tools of the trade, you will hopefully walk away with a toolkit that will serve as a foundation for your teaching practices. I look forward to working with you over the next eight weeks!

If you are new to Canvas or online learning in general, I recommend that you take some time reviewing the modules on how to navigate and interact with this course. We will be having discussions online, and you will be using the video recording function of Canvas often (figure out your best side now lol). You can find those sections, or modules in Canvas-speak, by clicking on this link or going through the navigation link to the left of your window.

In general we will be working through the modules in sequence. You might want to open each one to review the information contained within them. You should also review the assignment timeline so you can plan your work, home and study schedule and not get into panic mode when assignments are due.

Finally, the EMC 150 course syllabus contains all of the information related to the course. Check it out as soon as you able, as it contains critical information that relates to your successful completion of this course.

Quickie Bio:

EMS provider since 1982. Started with first aid and a CPR cards. Volunteered for 3 years before entering the career. Became a paramedic in 1985. Worked both coasts (NY, New England, Northern California). Held positions up to a chief's position at a major city fire department. Began teaching in 1996, Received my MA in 2000. Am the current program director for Santa Rosa Junior College SRJC Paramedic Academy, located in Google Map of Windsor CA.
